Q:hat are the minimum academic requirements for sponsorship?

Q: Who can apply?
A: It is open to Malaysian citizens, who have sat for the SPM / STPM / Diploma / Matriculation/’A’ Levels/Foundation/Pre-University examinations.
Q: I am on my second (or third or fourth year) now and would like to apply for scholarship? What do I do?
A: The scholarship is open to Malaysian students who are studying at any local/foreign recognised universities or colleges regardless of their year of study.
Q: I have just received my SPM results, which category should I apply for?
A: You may apply for the Certificate or Diploma category which awards RM2,000 or RM4,000 a year respectively.
Q: I am currently doing my Foundation year. Can I apply for the scholarship?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you offer sponsorship to study overseas?
A: If you are studying abroad, you may apply for the scholarship, but the monetary award given will be the same as to those pursuing their studies locally.
Q: How many times a year are scholarships offered?
A: It is offered only once a year.
Q: What happens if I miss the deadline?
A: Late applications will not be considered.
Q: I haven't received my offer letter yet? How can I apply?
A: We only accept applications that are submitted with an offer letter from a recognised Institution of Higher Learning.
Q: Can I change my programme or course midway during my studies?
A: Yes, you may do so with prior approval from the Board of Trustees.
Q: How often do you pay the scholarship amount?
A: The agreed amount will be paid directly to the Institution of Higher Learning.
Q: Will I have to pay back after I graduate?
A: No, it's a non-bonded scholarship.
Q: Can I apply based on my SPM/STPM forecast results?
A: No.

Q: When will I know if my application is successful?
A: Shortlisted candidates will be notified for an interview. If you do not hear from the Foundation by August, you may consider your application unsuccessful.
A: A selection committee does the preliminary shortlisting of candidates who have to undergo an interview session with the Board of Trustees. Successful candidates will then be determined by the Trustees based on merit, financial background and how they performed during the interviews.
Q: What is the next step after I submit the application form?
A: If you are shortlisted, you will be informed of an interview date.
Q: Where will the interview be held?
A: The interview for short-listed candidates will be held at Guinness Anchor Berhad (GAB)’s head office in Sungei Way.

Q. Do I have to apply for scholarships every year?
A: No. The amount awarded will be paid for the duration of your course.
Q. How do I check the status of my application?
A:Candidates will be notified via mail if they have been either shortlisted or unsuccessful in their application. Please consider your application unsuccessful if you do not hear from us by August.
Q. How are recipients selected?
A:
Candidates will be evaluated based on merit, financial needs and how they performed during the interview sessions.
Q. Can I accept another loan/scholarship and the GAB Foundation scholarship at the same time?
A: Yes. However, you need to check with the other organisation if this arrangement is acceptable by them.
Q. Can I take a bank loan if the amount is still not enough?
A: Yes
Q. Can I go for further studies after I get my first degree?
A: Yes you may. However GAB Foundation does not sponsor Masters/Postgraduate studies.
Q. How will the scholarship money be disbursed?
A: We will pay directly to the university/college for the fixed sum of either :
- RM10,000 per year per successful applicant for undergraduate studies in a local private university/college or foreign university/college ;
- RM7,000 per year per successful applicant for undergraduate studies in a local public university/college ;
- RM4,000 per year per successful applicant for diploma or advanced diploma courses ; or
- RM2,000 per year per successful applicant for certificate courses.
